Please note... (3/27/2011)

This is just a little note to let everyone know that all of the poems below were not written today.  Some of them were written at least three years ago, and I dug them up from various places.  I may eventually get to the point where I put the dates they were all written...  If I do so, I will be sure to leave a note!

And also, I may not *always* have poetry on this blog.  I may just write about my feelings or something, so just keep that in mind :)

Cat Woman

Cat Woman

She prowls the night,
Stealthily searching for her next toy,
The next fun thing to play with,
To tease.

Leather bound tightly to her body,
All features defined to perfection.
Crouching on all fours.

Catching a glimpse of the moon,
Peeking through the trees,
"I see you" it whispers playfully.
She hisses in annoyance.

She hears a noise behind her,
With cheetah-like speed she whirls,
Spinning silently on the spot to investigate,
Only to find... Nothing.

Jolting her head from left to right,
Smelling the air.
Pressing her palms into the earth,
Feeling vibrations of footsteps...

She feels the rhythm of four feet,
Pounding lightly on the dirt.
This creature is trying to be silent.

"Creature?"
"Is it human?"
"Could it be like me?"
She smells the air again.

"Maybe it is human?"
"A man, perhaps?"
Mind racing, heart fluttering,
A delicate, yet fierce scenario plays out in her head.

Excitement sparks in her eyes,
In the velvet death of the night,
Cat Woman had found something...
Her toy,

This man,
Not creature,
Belonged to her now.
"Mine" she growled with a smile,
Pouncing.

Daydream

Daydream

Swimming through a field of wildflowers,
Dreaming in a cloud of lace.
Vines of ivy sneak into your soul,
They are impossible to erase.

Blissful wisps of beautiful tune,
Merrily floating through my head.
Wishing so badly to be in your arms,
But no, I'm alone instead.

The breeze is so wonderful on this sweet autumn day,
I wish you were here,
Wish you'd come out and play.

Arrival of Autumn

Arrival of Autumn

Summer ceases,
While the dew point increases,
Warm days at the lake,
Soon turn to snuggling up in a sea of blankets.

Leaves retreat from the boughs,
Swirling and twirling,
Quietly dancing downwards,
Unaware of what's to happen next.

Flowers intake the last of their breaths,
Yawn and stretch,
And finally lay their heads down to rest.

Autumn winds exhale around trees,
Stirring what's left on their branches,
A crispy, cinnamon colored leaf falls away from it's once loved home.

Night

Night

Lines on my palms,
The stories of my life,
The creases where my fingers fold,
So I can hold your hand tight.

The moon was bright,
But only half full,
I feel a bit like that half full moon,
Like I'm missing something.

It's you,
If only you would see!
I want to wander secret paths unknown to others with you,
Find strange creatures in lands forgotten.

I want to lay next to you under the willow tree,
Listen to the night,
Crickets and frogs play their lovely songs,
Sing along with them.

I want to look at you and know you're mine,
I want you to look at me and know I'm yours,
I want you to whisper gently in my ear,
Just how much you care.

To feel you next to me,
Laying beside me,
Your warmth,
Your scent.

The night plays tricks on my eyes,
Like an optical illusion,
I will think about you,
Dream of you...

Hourglass

Hourglass

Step lightly,
My love,
For you are walking on clouds.
One wrong step and you'll be falling through the sky,
Saying your goodbye to me.

The stars can't mimic your smile,
As lovely as it is, nothing could be better
Than loving you like this.

My mother always says that you were just
The "flavor of the day" but that is just a fairy tale.

Time is running our of this pearly white hourglass.

Surrounded by Crows

Surrounded by Crows

Surrounded by crows in the darkness
Feels like I'm going to die.
Crippled and shut down with emptiness
It doesn't feel right.

Too bad the sun didn't rise today
Too bad it never rains,
I need to sit here and cry
But I wont allow the pain.

Fighting the urge to find
My very own place to fly.

For the Ghost

For the Ghost

"Don't despair," He looked at me.
I started to cry, his eyes were just so beautiful.

Too bad he had to die.
His love for me was unconditional,

And I'll never forget the way he kissed me, the way he said
"Don't fret"

I loved him, oh yes, that I cannot deny,
But he had his moments, his little shocks,

Sometimes I wanted to die.
He will always lurk inside my heart,

He'll never go away,
Is his ghost haunting me?

Only the future will say.

A Portrait of Death

A Portrait of Death

She opened the window wide,
Salty wind flowing through her hair,
Watching waves rolling into the tide,
Staring into the sunset's beautiful glare.

Her paint brush began to move,
Carefully swishing waves onto paper,
Seagulls flapping their wings in approve,
Her face got hot, tears fell, transforming into vapor.

A soft-spoken voice gently sang in the breeze,
"Hush, my dear, there's no need to cry"
The soothing whisper set her mind at ease,
Only on her paint brush could she rely.

She remembered long ago, the words "till death do us part"
Nothing reminded her better of death, than expressing it in her art.

Sheep

Sheep

Sing me to sleep with lips like velvet and eyes like glass,
I'll count all the little black sheep while time ticks past.

Blow out the candles beside my bed,
Swirling little ghosts, quietly going away to play.

1, 2, 3, 4 & many more tiny black sheep trot behind the first,
As they make their way through the misty haze of dream.

Tiny little feet, delicately tapping to a silent rhythm & beat,
Happy little cotton balls of fluff, with not a care in the world.

Autumn

Autumn

The pitter patter of rain on leaves,
Cool fresh air sets my mind at ease.

Wind softly rustling the golden symphony of fall,
Chimes dancing, making music for all.

But the skies are grey, a dull, sad over-tone,
To the rest of the beauty, standing all alone.
